SCIENCE

Term 2 – Geology

Stayed tuned for more details about our Science unit in Term 2, which starts in Week 6. We’ll be learning about the different types of rocks (igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic), as well as weathering and erosion. It’s going to be a great learning experience, as well as so much fun! 😉

Term 1 – Magnetic Moves

In Term 1, our Science unit is ‘Magnetic Moves’, which ties in really well with our first unit of Maths (if you’re not sure how, I’m sure that you’ll work it out later in the term!). We will be starting our Physics unit in Week 5, and continuing until the last week of term.

You will learn about magnets and their magnetic fields, as well as learn how to recognise materials that are attracted to magnets, or not.  Hands-on tasks will help you to learn about such things as how to measure the strength of a magnet by calculating the distance from which it attracts objects, as well as many other skills. An incursion, run by Monash University PrimeSCI later in the term, will extend your understanding of everything that you’ll be learning throughout the unit. It should be lots of fun!! 😉

Can you bring in 600ml ‘plastic bottles’ instead of 500ml, (cannot find any 500ml) is that okay?

      Hi Imogen,

Yes, you can bring a 600ml bottle instead of a 500ml bottle. Well done for remembering!

      Leah 😉
